Herbalife is featured along with other leading companies that are using sports and fitness sponsorships to promote their brand in the International Herald Tribune, "Follow the money and it leads to sports," (March 30, 2006).

The company's sponsorships of volleyball in Japan, a triathlon in France and dragon boat races in Hong Kong are featured, along with a quote from Herbalife President who said "If we were to do classic advertising on television, you're getting your name out there, but it lacks that emotional connection of getting our distributors involved with us."

U. S. News & World Report
Chief Executive Officer and triathlete Michael O. Johnson was interviewed for an article on CEOs who participate in triathlons in U.S. News & World Report, “Racing to the Top? Try the Triathlon” (January 27, 2006 special edition of usnews.com). This is a widely known business/lifestyle publication.

“Michael Johnson, 51, the CEO of Herbalife, observes that ‘everyone knows at least one of the skills in this. So it's more inclusive than running or biking alone might be. Some companies sign up for short-distance races, fielding three-person relay teams, with each person doing one leg’.”
